US Embassy Political and Economic Counselor Pays Visit to ECX
A delegation led by Mr John G. Robinson, the newly appointed Political and Economic Counselor at the Embassy of United States in Addis Ababa, visited ECX on September 22, 2021.
The visit aimed at grasping about the operations of the Exchange and the changes that have taken place in the modern trading system. Ato Wondimagegnehu Negera, CEO of Ethiopia Commodity Exchange, has briefed the overall activities of the Exchange and the major achievements that ECX brought to the small holder farmers and the foreign trade of the country. The visitors had also paid a visit to the electronic trading platform and the Central Laboratory to see the coffee grading process.
The Counselor & staffs have raised different questions on the Exchange’s relationship with the Chicago Mercantile, impact of inflation on the Exchange's operational activities, the contribution of the ECX on disseminating market data, and its role in coffee marketing. Ato Wondimagegnehu Negera replied to those questions and the delegation extended their compliment for the briefing.
