FDRE parliament Trade and Industry standing committee paid visit to the exchange and forwarded appreciation on the exchanges achievement in benefiting small holder farmer and creating trust in the commodity market.
Wondimagegnehu Negera CEO of ECX on the occasion said the exchange realized much in benefiting farmers, addressing quality issues and creating favorable trading environment to all market players.
He also added, ECX opened electronic trading center at Hawssa and Warehouse at Bule hora with the aim to increase accessibility of the modern trading platform. In addition the exchange introduced soybean and chickpea to the trading platform which will increase the benefit of producers, exporters and foreign currency earning.
Chair of the standing committee at Getachew Mengistie on his behalf said the exchanges achievement in addressing the issues of smallholder farmer’s and creating trustworthy market system is much more appreciated. This achievement should also be strengthened he added.
During the occasion members of the standing committee raised issues concerning quality, accessibility and introduction of new commodities to the platform and the management addressed the points raised by the committee.
The committees visited the open outcry system, quality grading laboratory and the electronic trading.
